Help the Ati Children

HomeFrom Narciso and SoniaJun 27, 2008
Thank you for opening my Multiply site. My name is Narciso C. Dionson and my wife's name is Sonia. We have six children, all boys, all of whom are on their own but we have a grandchild, Jamie, who lives with us. An Ati young boy studying at a Boracay elementary school, and an 80-year-old friend, Nanay Teling, complete our household.

Since 2004 Sonia and I have been involved in helping Ati children of Northwestern Panay, in the Philippines. My wife manages Faith Retreat and Conference Center in Boracay, a resort island, part of the province of Aklan. Proceeds from this retreat center go primarily in educating Ati children. In 2008 we started a feeding program to alleviate hunger among 80 preschoolers. We paid tuition for 50 elementary school children and provided full scholarships to two Ati young people studying in college. We coordinated with medical mission teams to hold medical clinics once or twice a year in Ati communities.

When school reopened in 2009 we have 170 children being helped in education and nutrition, 67 of these are now in elementary school and the rest are in preschool. We are still helping Eugene and Hanna Lee to finish their college education. We thank God for those who have participated with us in the ministry of giving and receiving. May the Lord's favor be upon you always.

Pete and I had just arrived from Cubay Elementary where we turned over a set of Grollier's encyclopedia and a computer.  We were having lunch when Darryle, an Ati youth, announced that Morito Tamboon had died.  A couple of years ago... more
